Summary: Amazing walking shoe.
Comment: I've tried a lot of hiking boots and shoes and none have topped this Vasque. Sticky on a wide variety of surfaces, good support, and very lightweight.

The best thing about this shoe is that it seems to fit just perfectly. That being said, the numerical sizes are a bit optimistic (like Reebok sizes, in my opinion). Maybe subtract 1/2 size to get your fit.

Being that this is a great shoe, I sure hope it doesn't get discontinued or tweaked into something less good just for a "refresh". I've hiked with this shoe in Iceland, the eastern US, central america and now I'll be buying another pair for an Africa trip.

Comment: This is an outstanding walking shoe. I've worn this shoe on walking tours of the English Cotswolds and will be wearing them in NZ next week on another trek. They offer great support and are waterproof as well. I've even had my old pair repaired to wear about town so that I can save my newer pair for more important walks. Amazon is a good sight to find them, as they're difficult to locate elsewhere, at least in my area.

Buying shoes online is a daunting task and it's hard to tell what's the best deal. Here are my impressions about these shoes and I hope there is something in the review that will help you decide. I was looking for hiking shoes but also something I could wear every day and these fit the bill nicely.

The good: True to the description they are really light and have good ankle support. The Gore-Tex is nice so you don't have to worry about soggy feet in wet weather, and they are actually quite breatheable. The heel is very thick and gives strong support right in the arch that makes them feel good to wear. They are comfortable all day. I inspected the toe part where the sole is glued in and it is very well done. The stitching all around the shoe is high quality. The sole is a kind of grippy rubber that makes them really slip proof.

Sizing: I am a size 9 exactly, but I ordered a 9.5 just in case and glad I did. The toe area is a little narrow compared to other shoes, so I suggest ordering a half size up from what you normally wear or they will feel a little cramped. This also helps if you want to put in a gel insert or wear thicker socks for cold weather. Great shoe overall and I do not regret spending the money. Inside and out they are well built and look good without being flashy.
